I loved this post so much! Felt like I was there, and I loved hearing about the emotional as well as physical journey of yoga teacher training.

Thank you so much, Noor! I don’t think I’ll become a yoga teacher anytime soon, but it’s still one of my favorite experiences.

Congrats on your grad! The body keeps the score. Today is my first day of sabbatical. I know I need a bit of bodywork to reset after 15 years in corporate.

Thank you for sharing this experience! And congrats on your 500 hrs!

"I do believe that yoga has become such an ego-driven gymnastics competition, when it was never intended to be that way."

I couldn't agree more with this statement.👏🏽 I fell in love with hot yoga (Bikram, or 26+2 as it's now called) right before the pandemic hit. Once I moved to a new city (DC suburbs) and was forced to find a new home studio, this is the dynamic I became disgusted with.😑 It feels like Americans prefer it this way though. So sad.

Anyway, you have a new sub😉

Hi Dr. April! I’m so glad you’re here, and thanks for the congrats! 😊 I lived in DC for a few years — depending on where you came from I can see how this would be a huge difference, competition and one-upping each other is such a big part of the culture.

Very true! I lived in the DC area 13yrs way back when so it isn't new to me. I recently chose to return to the ridiculousness.😅 Just been disappointed by the yoga culture here.

Congratulations on getting your certification! I loved reading this as I spent January 2018 in Kathmandu and hold such beautiful and transformative experiences in Nepal. I felt so safe there too. I love how even though an unfortunate ankle twist taught you a lesson that I sure needed to be reminded of as well! Can't wait to read more Zefan!
